A Lap Around Telerik Test Studio

PRESENTER:
John Bristowe

SESSION ABSTRACT:

Testing: Great idea? Or, the greatest idea? Sure, we all want to do it. But how many of you can say it's easy? That's typically what snubbed us; the complexity and maintenance of tests for our code. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a better way? In this session, John Bristowe will show you how to achieve test nirvana with Telerik Test Studio. He'll highlight functional UI testing, load testing, and performance testing all through Test Studio's experience.

SPEAKER BIO:

John Bristowe is a Principal Developer Advocate with Progress Software in Australia. Prior to joining Progress Software, he was a Senior Developer Evangelist with Microsoft Canada.  John is an experienced speaker and frequently presents at developer conferences and events.

Many moons ago, John was a member of the Microsoft Regional Director program and was awarded a Microsoft MVP award for his work in the developer community on technologies such as ASP, ASP.NET, and the Microsoft Web services stack.

I’m pleased to welcome the kind folks at Aspose as a new sponsor of the QLD ALM Users group.

As sponsors of our user group they are kindly donating a Developer Small Business license for any one of the products listed below. This entitles a single developer to create applications for themselves or inside their organisation.  We’ll give away one license every three months to a lucky user group member. I’ll let you know which meetings will include this giveaway in the meeting notifications I send out.

Here’s a list of just some of their great products. Be sure to check them out if you’re in the market for libraries to help you work with these formats.

The winner of each license can choose from one of these items.

Our first giveaway is at our meeting this Friday, 7th August 2015. One lucky attendee will leave with an awesome license. I’ll leave it to the presenter, Richard, to figure out how he will pick the lucky winner.

TITLE:
An ALM perspective on Microsoft Office 365 App Development

PRESENTER:
Richard Angus

SESSION ABSTRACT:

SharePoint and ALM have always had a strange relationship, with both sides seemingly ignoring each other. This has led to a perception that SharePoint and ALM is "hard" (and truth be told, it has been in the past).

With the new Web friendly design patterns that are emerging from Microsoft and the SharePoint Community, SharePoint development can now be seen as close to being on-par with modern web development. In this talk, I will cover the use of Visual Studio Online, Azure Web Apps (or On-Premise web applications) for both On Premise installations of SharePoint 2013 and Office 365.

SPEAKER BIO:

Richard Angus is a SharePoint/TFS/Visual Studio consultant at Dev iQ with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. SharePoint has become a bit of a passion for Richard over the years since he first got introduced to it back in 2003, and he has dabbled on and off with SharePoint and its precursors (who remembers Site Server and CMS 2003?). Some say that I have Stockholm syndrome, and they may very well be right...
